For those of you who do not know I am a fan of the X-MEN. I run an X-MEN RPG on Yahoo! Groups called From the Dust. Last year one of my favorite players had to take a leave of absence. He has had medical issues, and there was never anything said about when or if he would come back. Imagine my delight when about a month ago he told me that he thought he was ready to come back. We spent a lot of time talking about our characters (he plays Wolverine and I play an original character named Regina). Durring this conversation he issued a very interesting challenge to me. He asked me to write a story that would take place between Logan and Regina. I was all for it, until he gave me the scenario. Wolverine is wounded in a fight and because he is stuck in the canadian wilderness in the middle of winter he nearly dies. My character is supposed to find him and nurse him back to health.

Yeah, I know. Anyone who writes is staring at this screaming "MARY SUE"!!! This is a classic Mary Sue scenario. Main character gets wounded, original character nurses them back to health and they fall in love. Yeah, I know, my mind was screaming the same thing.

'NO!!! HOW COULD YOU!!! I'VE WORKED SO HARD TO KEEP HER AS FAR AWAY FROM THE MARY SUE AS POSSIBLE!!!'

After much himming and hawing around I came to a realization. This was a challenge. What better way to prove my writting ability than to write a mary sue scenario but make it distinctively NOT mary sue. So, I took on the challenge and I think I did rather well.

I will be adding this story, as well as perhaps a few poems, within the next week or so after I do a bit of revision.
